How to Read Your Shade Code

Every shade has a 4-character code — once you understand the logic, picking your shade is straightforward. Take 234N as an example:
Shade Family (first digit)
The leading number tells you which depth family you fall into: 1 = Light · 2 = Medium · 3 = Tan · 4 = Deep. In 234N, the 2 places this shade in the Medium family.
Intensity (middle two digits)
The two-digit number indicates depth within that family — lower numbers are lighter, higher are deeper. In 234N, 34 places this mid-way through the Medium range.
Undertone (final letter)
The letter at the end tells you the undertone. In 234N, the N means Neutral — no dominant warm or cool lean.
