Colours:

This FX palette was designed to recreate all injuries and illnesses including 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree burns, cuts, scrapes, scabs and bruises. Used in conjunction with the Skin Illustrator Flesh Tone Palette this creates ultra realistic effects.

Tested extensively on feature film sets by a group of acclaimed makeup artists, the FX palette has established itself as an essential tool for professional makeup applications.

The Blood Tone shade was developed to assist MUA's in maintaining continuity and overcoming the limitations of syrup based bloods. It offers a natural, realistic blood colour that can be deepened to a theatrical shade by adding some of the Ultra Blue shade.

Unlike traditional blood products that may wear off or flake, Blood Tone combined with a topical layer of KY Jelly ensures long-lasting wear without smudging or staining costumes. A thin layer of KY adds a subtle sheen, while a thicker application creates the effect of dripping blood. Its durability allows blood effects to be applied hours in advance and refreshed instantly when needed on set.

Blood Tone also works brilliantly as an abrasion resistant underpaint with syrup based bloods. If the conventional blood washes or wears away in a wet scene, the Blood Tone will remain.

Combining specific colors will not replicate tones already included in the palette. For example, mixing Yellow and Blue yields a green distinct from the palette’s Green. Use Burnt Orange to achieve a rust hue. The Aged Blood offers a balanced aged blood tone, avoiding excessive blue or purple. When blended with other palette colours, Aged Blood creates an entirely new spectrum of shades.

Important Considerations:

The Skin Illustrator colour system’s high pigment content means some cracking or shrinkage in dried colour cells is normal and does not affect quality. The formula is concentrated and uses alcohol to set, causing shrinkage and preventing cells from being completely full. When reactivated with alcohol, the pigments perform perfectly without loss of quality.
