For optimum results, application is key:

Foundation Tips: use a professional makeup brush to apply the cream foundation from the centre of the face and blend outwards. Depending on your complexion issues, you may want to use more than one shade for the different areas, a lighter shade works well on the central panel of the face with a slightly warmer shade around the edges, or, if you have an already even complexion use the closest shade all over to unify the skin. Don't be afraid to mix some shades to get the perfect match. You can adjust the colour of your base dependent on the season: ie: in the warmer/Summer months your skin may be a deeper colour and in the cooler/Winter months when you don't see the sun it may be slightly paler-having 3 shades to play with will ensure that you always have a match.

Contour/Highlighting Tips: use a professional makeup brush like the MYKITCO 0.6 My Flawless Contour to sculpt and add definition to the facial structure by applying the deeper contour shades underneath the cheekbones, temples, jawline and hairline to add depth and set back those areas then add the highlighter shade to the high points and prominent areas of the face to bring them forward.

You can play with your face shape depending on what you are looking to achieve and make subtle tweaks ie: if you want to give the impression of a slimmer or straighter nose you can subtly apply some of the contour shades to the sides of the nose and blend well, then apply a lighter foundation shade down the centre of the nose. You can even add some of the highlighter shade down the centre and to the tip of the nose for more dramatic shaping.
