The Character Palette is an alcohol activated palette containing 10 special effects solid pigments that when mixed with alcohol can be painted onto skin, hair and appliances to create ultra realistic results.
Formulated as an offshoot of the industry-standard WM Creations STACOLOR line, The Character Palette delivers the same professional-grade performance and high-pigment payoff trusted by top film, television, and theater makeup artists worldwide. Whether you’re working on quick continuity touch-ups or complex, full-body character transformations, this palette offers unparalleled durability and realistic depth.
Water, sweat and smudge proof.
For use on skin, hair and gelatine or silicone appliances.
This carefully curated palette contains a selection of 10 SFX colours covering bruising, cuts, blood flow, veins and tattoos. Perfect for creating black eyes, severed effects, contusions, broken capillaries, aged blood, aged tattoos, bruises, etc.
The colours can be used alone or layered or even mixed to get the required results.
Designed to provide a semi transparent wash of colour for more subtle and ultra realistic results.
-
Activate with Precision: Activate the pigments using 99% Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) for maximum opacity and fast drying time. For softer, sheerer washes of color, higher-grade alcohols (or specialized alcohol mixing liquids) can be used to dilute the formula.
-
Build in Layers: Alcohol-activated paint is designed to be translucent. Layer sheer washes starting with underlying vascular tones (like Gray Blue or New Vein) before adding surface trauma (Capillary or Old Red) to build realistic, 3D-looking depth.
-
Fippling & Stippling: Use a stipple sponge or a coarse stippling brush to flick or tap colors like EBruisy, Purple Bruise, and Capillary onto the skin. Avoid dragging the brush, as stippling mimics natural skin texture and broken micro-vessels.
-
Tattoo & Vein Detailing: Mix Aged Tattoo or Brite Blue with a fine liner brush for crisp, accurate line work. Blending Gray Blue over fine lines softens edges, creating the illusion of pigments set deep beneath the dermis.
-
Working on Prosthetics: When applying to gelatin or silicone appliances, seal your piece first if required, then stipple thin layers to mimic natural skin tones without destroying the prosthetic’s edge or texture.
Colours
Brite Blue: for tattoos and primary blue base
Gray Blue: Subtle mottling and undertone veins.
EBruisy: Fresh-mid stage bruise tone.
Purple Bruise: Deep/older bruise tone.
Dark Vein: Deep, vascular shadow tone.
New Vein: Mid tone, surface vascularity.
Capillary: Arterial red & surface broken vessels.
Old Red: Fresh blood & tissue accents.
Aged Tattoo: Faded ink & deep, subcutaneous tone.
Orange Newt: Warmth, accent & raw tissue.
Removal & Care:
-
Removal: Do not use water or standard soap alone. To remove from skin, hair, or appliances, use a specialized alcohol-based makeup remover, high-grade IPA, or a heavy-duty oil-based/silicone remover. Apply liberally with a towel or cotton pad, allow it to break down the pigment, and gently wipe away.
-
Palette Maintenance: Keep the palette dry when not in use. If pigments dry out between uses, simply reactivate them with a few drops of alcohol—the formula will reset instantly with zero product waste.
