The Character Palette is an alcohol activated palette containing 10 special effects solid pigments that when mixed with alcohol can be painted onto skin, hair and appliances to create ultra realistic results.

This carefully curated palette contains a selection of 10 SFX colours covering old age, character breakdown, dirt, skin sallowness and decay. Perfect for creating age spots, hollowed eyes, liver spots jaundiced skin, 5 o'clock shadow, mud and rust effects, deep wrinkles, necrotic rot, etc.

The colours can be used alone or layered or even mixed to get the required results.

Designed to provide a semi transparent wash of colour for more subtle and ultra realistic results. 

• • Authentic Old Age Stippling: To create realistic wrinkles and texture, stretch the skin tightly and stipple sheer washes of Old Age Spots and Medium Brown Iron over the area. Allow the alcohol to flash off completely before releasing the skin to reveal deep, natural-looking creasing.

  • Hollowing & Sinking: Create gaunt, skeletal features or exhausted, sunken eyes by washing A Grey and Medium Brown Iron into the natural contours of the face. Build the depth gradually to keep the shadows looking like skin rather than paint.

  • Sallowness & Sickness: For characters requiring a sickly, jaundiced, or exhausted appearance, heavily dilute Ochre and Olive with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) to create a translucent wash. Use White Yellow to highlight prominent bone structure, further emphasizing the hollows.

  • Realistic Dirt & Grime: Use a splatter brush or coarse stipple sponge to flick Red Brown and Brown Green onto the skin and hair. Layering these warm and earthy tones mimics authentic, built up grime, rust and environmental breakdown.

  • Rot & Decay on Prosthetics: When detailing corpses, infections, or mold on silicone or gelatin appliances, push Black Green, Olive, and Light Green into the deepest recesses and folds of the sculpt to create the illusion of deep, necrotic tissue, surface breakdown, and realistic decay.

Colours:

Olive: Decay, sickness & muted green.

Black Green: Deep rot, shadow & dark decay.

Brown Green: Mottling, breakdown & dirt.

Light Green: Sickly highlights, mold, surface decay & sallow undertones.

Old Age Spots: Sun spots, freckling & liver spots.

Medium Brown Iron: Primary dirt, shading & contour.

Red Brown: Warm dirt, rust & deep skin tones.

Ochre: Jaundice, sallow skin & warmth.

White Yellow: Highlighting, pale skin & mixing.

A-Gray: Stubble, hollows & cool shadow.

Removal & Care:

• Removal: Do not use water or standard soap alone. To remove from skin, hair, or appliances, use a specialized alcohol-based makeup remover, high-grade IPA, or a heavy-duty oil-based/silicone remover. Apply liberally with a towel or cotton pad, allow it to break down the pigment, and gently wipe away.

• Palette Maintenance: Keep the palette dry when not in use. If pigments dry out between uses, simply reactivate them with a few drops of alcohol—the formula will reset instantly with zero product waste.
